Reflection Unit

In this unit I learned about the importance about culture, about how the differences are important, appreciate or own culture but be open to another culture, respect their point of view, respect their customs and traditions, because if we are not open  to their culture, we could do stereotypes about them, I learned with the readings that we read in class, with the videos that we saw during class and out of class, had classes with people that are from different cultures, and that speak different language than mine.

My aha moment was, when I read, Reading Guide: Introduction to Culture, when I knew the definition of Mainstream, High Culture, Subculture, Counter culture, and Cultural Relativism, and the role on our cultures.

I could express this unit like, necessary and important because it opens to the main ideas of culture, and it gives us ideas that we can use in daily life. Something that I learned in this unit was culture shock, I did not know that culture shock affects all of us, I did know the symptoms, like headaches, pains and allergies, I always thought that only symptoms were sadness, feel loneliness, I learned too about the stages that when you visit or start living in a new country, I did know about the stages; the honeymoon, the distress, the re-integration, autonomy and independence. When I read the reading: signs of culture shock, I see that I had passed for all the stages of culture shock, and I learned that pass for culture shock is something normal.
